 6/27/04             Logisys lights     by KiSA

You may be asking yourself, why in the world would anyone spend their time reviewing lights.   Well, simple, there are a slew of different manufacturers out their pumping their products to market as fast as possible.  Modders have a lot of choices when it comes to how to sculpt their perfect rig.

I have chosen Logisys CCFLs both 12" and 4" as well as their crystal clear blue led fans for today's review because I recently used all of them in my both the DJ-PC, and in Liquidity/Quicksilver.

CCFLs,  the packaging is more than adequate for these bright lights, typical thin plastic boxes housing the CCFL tube and the power module.  Also included in the box are your adhesive velcro tabs, and instructions.

If you need the instructions for installing these, stop reading, put the screwdriver down, cancel your AOL account and return your pc to Wa1-Mar7.

When it comes to installation, the lights are a breeze, you position the lights where you want them in your enclosure, affix the included velcro tabs to the lights and the mounting location, then stick em together.  Once you have mounted the lights its time to wire them for power.  *make sure to follow all ESD precautions*  Simply plug the connector from the lights into the module, you can't get it wrong, it will only go in on side of the module.   then plug the other side of the module into an available Molex connector.     You do have the option of attaching the module to a switch but what fun is that?

One important item of note with the Logisys CCFL modules is that you can attach up to two CCFLs per module, This makes it easer to maintain your wire management.

The fans come packaged just like the CCFLs. Nothing of major note there. Fan installation is fairly straight forward,  a fan is a fan is a fan, unless it's a blower.

What I was looking for here was brightness.

Brightness I GOT!  The first thing that I noticed after powering my system on was just how bright these lights were.  I have used other brands before and have been disappointed with some, and just satisfied with others.  These lights were among the tops of the light products that I have used.  When I buy lights I want them bright, easy to install and long lasting.  I have been running mine for about six months now and they do not appear to have lost any brightness.   Great product, good price.

I've done a little bit of background investigation on Logisys and they are all about the "mod"  from their lights to their cases, and back to their keyboards.  This is a Mod friendly company that stands behind their products.
